Our Vets

Lloyd R Davies BVSc MRCVS (Director)

Lloyd graduated from Bristol University and joined the practice in 1985, since then he has enjoyed the challenges and changes in general practice over the years. His particular interests include internal medicine and abdominal surgery.

Matthew S Lewis BVetMed MRCVS (Director)

Having graduated from The Royal Veterinary College, Matthew joined the practice in 2006. Whilst enjoying all areas of the job he has developed a particular interest in orthopaedic surgery, having attended several courses on the correction of joint instabilities and complex fracture repair. Ophthalmology and surgery of the eye has become another keen interest in recent years, particularly the management of ocular trauma and non-healing ulcers. He is currently completing a certificate in small animal surgery and will gladly see referrals in orthopaedic surgery. Outside of work, Matt enjoys playing hockey for Gillingham hockey club, the occasional fishing trip and spending time with his young family and 4 dogs + 2 cats.

Stephen M Whitfield BVSc MRCVS (Director)

Stephen graduated from Liverpool University  and joined Longmead  in 2000. He had a four year stint working in mixed practice in the Isle of Man and Yorkshire before returning to Longmead in 2006. His specialist interests include Laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery, endoscopy and endosurgery . In his spare time he can often be found in the sky above Mere and Berwick on his Hang glider.

Susannah Mortimer BVSc MRCVS

Suzy graduated from Bristol University in 2016 and joined the practice soon after. Suzy enjoys all aspects of small animal practice, but has a particular interest in soft tissue surgery. Outside of work Suzy enjoys keeping fit by running and going to the gym.

Harry Dance BVMedSci BVMBVS MRCVS

Harry graduated from Nottingham University in 2018 and joined the practice almost straight after. He currently enjoys all aspects of veterinary practice, however has developed a particular interest in canine medicine. Due to this Harry is currently studying for an advanced practitioner certificate in small animal medicine.

In his spare time, Harry enjoys cooking and various rural activities such as walking his very active German Shorthaired Pointer.

Lynn Broom BVSc MRCVS

Lynn graduated from Liverpool University in 2000 and worked in several practices in the area doing mixed animal work before becoming a primarily small animal vet. She has a particular interest in exotic animals including reptiles, birds and small furries. In 2010, she completed the General Practitioners Certificate in Exotic Animal Practice. She also enjoys treating chickens and other poultry. Outside of work Lynn enjoys running marathons, cycling and walking her dogs.

Our Nursing Team

Natalie Lewis RVN DipAVN (Head Nurse, Shaftesbury)

Natalie first joined Longmead in 2008 and qualified as a RVN in 2010. After taking time out to work in a busy referral hospital, Natalie has recently returned to join the Longmead team. Natalie has a diploma in advanced veterinary nursing and particularly enjoys surgical and medical nursing. In her spare time she enjoys  walking her 3 dachshunds,  horse riding and spending time with her family.

Clare Vincent RVN

Clare qualified as a Veterinary Nurse in 2000 and enjoys all aspects of the job, especially inpatient care. After a short career break to start a family, Clare joined Longmead Vets in 2013. In her spare time she enjoys running,swimming and sewing.

Beth Hart RVN

Beth joined the practice in 2013 after completing a level 3 diploma in animal management and qualified as a Veterinary Nurse in September 2015.

Katie Fry BSc(Hons) Dip AVN(Surg) RVN

Katie qualified as a RVN in 1998 and completed her surgical diploma in 2003. After a career break to start a family she has returned to the practice working part time. In her spare time she enjoys singing in choirs and helping out on the family farm.

Natasha Aptakre-Davis RVN

Tash joined the practice in April 2017 and started her nursing training later that year. She qualified as a registered veterinary nurse in January 2020. Tash enjoys all aspects of nursing but especially enjoys the rehabilitation of patients post surgery.

Beth Berry TVN

Beth joined the practice in 2017 and started her nursing training in 2018 after achieving her animal nursing assistant qualification. In her spare time Beth enjoys riding her horse Razz and socialising with friends.

Leanne White TVN

Leanne joined the practice in December 2018 as a Kennel Assistant and started her nursing training in January 2020. When she qualifies she would like to specialise in physiotherapy and hydrotherapy or exotics! In her spare time she enjoys going to the gym, running and walking her dog.
